We practice Apiculture/Apiary (propagation of Apis bees) and Meliponiculture/Melipony (propagation of Stingless bees spp.). We give beekeeping talks, seminars and workshops as this is of much importance in providing an avenue for learning about our pollinators, honey producing bees, and valuable information about the bees' impact to the food chain. Then, comes the awareness of how to attract and protect them so they could be utilized for sustainable agriculture.
It is great to have this in schools or science club meetings so kids will have a good understanding about pollinators and pollination as a whole. When kids know the relevance of bees in ecology, they would grow with the impression that they ought to protect them and gain knowledge of how to react when bees are around.
Talking about bees and its effects on agriculture as pollinators is very important for Local Government Units (LGU) through the Municipal Agricultural Office (MAO) so that an activity like this can be attended by farmer groups/federation to maximize information dissemination.
